Ultrahigh speed optical coherence tomography : New developments for ophthalmic imaging
نویسندگان
چکیده
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an imaging technique providing depthresolved, cross-sectional imaging of biological tissues with micrometer scale resolution. Recent advances in sensitivity and imaging speed have enabled the acquisition of three dimensional (3D) data sets. In ophthalmology, OCT has become an indispensible imaging tool for diagnosis of disease and monitoring therapy. While OCT technology is established in daily ophthalmic clinical use, research groups in the international scientific community are developing new OCT methods and pushing the limits of resolution and imaging speed. In this article, advances in the field of ultrahigh speed OCT and their applications to ophthalmic imaging are presented.

Ultrahigh speed spectral / Fourier domain ophthalmic OCT imaging
Ultrahigh speed spectral / Fourier domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) using a CMOS line scan camera with image acquisition rates of 70,000 312,500 axial scans per second is investigated. Several design configurations are presented to illustrate design trade-offs between acquisition speed, sensitivity, resolution and sensitivity roll-off performance. We demonstrate: extended imaging range...
متن کاملUltrahigh speed volumetric ophthalmic OCT imaging at 850nm and 1050nm Citation
The performance and imaging characteristics of ultrahigh speed ophthalmic optical coherence tomography (OCT) are investigated. In vivo imaging results are obtained at 850nm and 1050nm using different configurations of spectral and swept source / Fourier domain OCT. A spectral / Fourier domain instrument using a high speed CMOS linescan camera with SLD light source centered at 850nm achieves spe...

The influence of depth dependent dispersion by the main component of biological tissues, water, on the resolution of OCT was studied. Investigations showed that it was possible to eliminate the influence of depth dependent dispersion by water in tissue by choosing a light source with a center wavelength near 1.0 microm. Ultrahigh resolution ophthalmic imaging was performed at this wavelength ra...
متن کاملHigh-speed ultrahigh-resolution OCT of Bruch's membrane in membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis type 2.
Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN) type 2 is characterized by electron-dense deposits in the glomerular basement membrane and drusen-like deposits in Bruch's membrane. Over time, atrophic changes in the retina and retinal pigment epithelium occur, which can progress to choroidal neovascularization (CNV). This report describes a patient with MPGN type 2 who developed progressive los...
